CHANDIGARH MC MOVES HC AGAINST STAY ORDER ON TAKEOVER OF WASTE PLANT

CHANDIGARH: The Chandigarh municipal corporation on Monday moved the Punjab and Haryana high court against a local court’s stay order on taking over the waste processing plant at Dadumajra from Jaypee Group. Jaypee Group had moved court on Friday to stay the MC takeover, but the civic body went ahead with as it received the order on Saturday. The district court in March this year had given a three-month stay to the company, disallowing the civic body from taking over the plant. After the period expired, the MC on June 18 served a 24-hour notice to the firm to vacate the premises.
