-

CHANDIGARH: Haryana government has decided to promote this year five non-state civil service officers to the post of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) after shortlisting 25 candidates on the basis of a written examination to be conducted by the Haryana Public Service Commission .

According to a June 23 letter of Haryana chief secretary’s office, HPSC has invited online applications to fill five IAS posts of Haryana cadre from among the nonSCS officers.

On June 9, the state government had allowed HPSC to recommend candidates (non-SCS officers) not exceeding five times the number of vacancies after conducting the written examination. The willing officers will have to apply online by June 28.

This is for the first time that non-state civil services (SCS) officers in Haryana will have to take a written examination to get appointed to an IAS post. Until now, the non-SCS officers in Haryana were appointed to such posts on the basis of their service record.

The HPSC will prepare a merit list based on the marks obtained in the written examination. The three-hour written examination will have 100 multiple-choice questions with five options. The exam will have negative marking and for every wrong answer. HTC
