1 DEATH, 186 NEW CORONA CASES IN J&K

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday recorded 186 fresh Covid-19 infections, taking the total number of cases in the Union territory to 6,422, officials said.

While 28 of these cases were reported from the Jammu region, 158 were from the Valley, they said. Among these 32 people had recently returned to the UT. The cases also include 10 Jammu and Kashmir Police and three Central Reserve Police Force (CPRF) personnel, the officials said.

Officials said Ramban and Kishtwar districts reported no fresh case on Wednesday.

Also, a 55-year-old woman from Srinagar died due to the virus. With this, death toll in the UT has risen to 88. Doctors at the SKIMS hospital said the woman had underlying health conditions and died of multiple organ failure.

The total number of cured has reached 3,818 as 176 more patients were discharged.

The highest number of cases at 37 were reported from Baramulla followed by Shopian 35 and Srinagar 29. Srinagar district has the highest number of 503 active cases followed by Baramulla district at 322.

The total number of active cases in J&K stand at 2,516, out of which 496 are in Jammu division and 2,020 in Kashmir.
