HC disposes of PIL on marriage functions
CHANDIGARH: The high court on Wednesday asked the Punjab and Haryana governments and the Chandigarh administration to look into the demand of reducing the upper limit of 50 guests at marriages and related gatherings. The HC disposed of the PIL filed by advocate HC Arora, asking him to approach the administrations. He had challenged the guidelines issued by the Union ministry of home affairs allowing gatherings of up to 50 guests at marriages, etc in view of the Covid-19 outbreak. He had argued that these guidelines are in violation of the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961. his possession and a preliminary probe suggested that he was using it to pass the toll plazas on the highway without paying tax.
