AFTER BRAZIL, OXFORD TAKES VACCINE TRIAL TO S AFRICA
LONDON:Experts conducting a human trial at the University of Oxford for a Covid-19 vaccine said that an additional 10,000 volunteers will soon be enrolled in the UK, besides extending the trial to South Africa.
The vaccine’s trial is in its second phase and has already been launched in Brazil. “Our vaccine work is progressing quickly,” the university said, announcing the trial in South Africa.
That trial is being conducted in collaboration with Wits University. The technical name of the vaccine is ChAdOx1 nCoV-19, produced from a virus called ChAdOx1, a weakened version of a common cold virus (adenovirus).
