KARNAL: Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Thursday termed infected persons coming from Delhi as the main reason behind the spike in coronavirus cases in the state.

“No-doubt the number of Covid-19 patients is increasing in the state by the day, but most of them are associated with Delhi. Even Delhi residents are coming to Haryana for tests, which is why maximum cases are being reported in the NCR districts,” he added.“People from Delhi, who don’t get tests and treatment there come to Haryana for the same and get counted in the state’s Covid-19 tally, resulting in an increase in the total number of cases,” he held.

At least 16 people from Delhi are being treated in Karnal, while 150 people who tested positive here have travel history to Delhi, Khattar said adding that Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s claims that people from other states were getting treatment in Delhi are false.

When asked about the increasing number of infections, he said the spike in cases is a matter of concern, but the government was ready to deal with any situation as the doctors and hospital staff have been deputed to monitor the situation very closely.

KARNAL EMPLOYMENT OFFICER SUSPENDED

The chief minister held a Janta Darbar (open session) in Karnal and heard over 100 complaints of district residents and most of those were redressed on the spot.

This chief minister also ordered an inquiry against a clerk of Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam for errors in the electricity bills of a consumer.

During the three-hour session, the Khattar directed the officials to ensure immediate redressal of the complaints and also ordered suspension of district employment officer for remaining absent from the session. As most of the complaints were related to land disputes, the CM said drones will be used for the demarcation of the land to resolve the pending land disputes in the state.
