SAD ASKS CM TO HELP DOABA’S MAIZE FARMERS
CHANDIGARH: The Shiromani Akali Dal asked CM Captain Amarinder Singh to intervene and help the beleaguered maize farmers of Doaba region by directing Markfed and state procurement agencies to purchase maize to ensure remunerative prices to farmers. SAD kisan wing chief Sikander Singh Maluka said farmers in Doaba region were forced to sell their crop for Rs 700-800 per quintal even as the MSP for maize had been fixed at Rs 1,850 per quintal. He said the government could involve market committees and send a list of names of farmers who were forced to undersell produce.
