APPROVAL FOR UPGRADE OF 1,100KM ROADS

CHANDIGARH: The State Level Standing Committee on Friday gave nod for upgrade of 1,100km roads and construction of 16 bridges. Road list under Phase-3 of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana was discussed in a meeting. The Rs 750 crore project will be executed on fund-sharing basis – 60% from Centre and 40% from state. The bridges on rural roads with cost approximately Rs 40 crore. A spokesperson said that after preparing detailed project reports, the project is likely to be submitted to the Union ministry of rural development in July. The work is likely to be started by October or November.
