CSPs: THE LOCKDOWN HEROES

-

The Customer Service Points (CSPs) became instrumental in delivering banking services to remote areas during the national lockdown phase. They are SBI’s covidheroes.

Take the case of Salami Shashankar, a 27 year old girl who since March 25 has been providing banking services to 20 tribal hamlets in Koraput district, Odisha. She is an outsourced staff, aka business correspondent (BC)/Customer Service Point for SBI Laxmipur branch.

Each day she carries 70 withdrawal and deposit slips, stamp pad, a laptop and cash of around Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000.

Known as the ‘bank madam’, she plays the primary role of making various State and Centre Government subsidies available to these communities.

Salami’s relentless efforts during lockdown has benefitted more than 1000 customers in times of dire need.

The story of Manoshi Borah is equally inspiring. Early morning, Manoshi Borah, a CSP of SBI Dergaon Branch reaches her work place by crossing the Brahmputra river by a boat. This has been her routine even during the lockdown phase.

Following the lockdown guidelines, she has been providing banking services in Bhekeli and Bakchi villages in a river island district - Kajuli. Duly trained by her respective SBI Branch, she has been supporting SBI’s financial inclusion initiatives.
