At 1,305 girls per 1,000 boys, Karnal village has best sex ratio at birth

Bahari village of Assandh sub-division has given a boost to the skewed sex-ratio as an average 1,305 girls per 1,000 boys have taken birth in the village in the past one year.

As per figures revealed by the Karnal district administra­tion, the girl sex ratio in Bahari village remained on top, while Faridpur village of Gharaunda block with 1,259 girls remained in second position and Takhana village with 1,178 girls reamed at the third position in district.

The developmen­t has come as a big relief for the district health department which is facing problems while attempting to improve sex-ratio at birth.

It remained at 900 points in 2020 from 908 points in 2019 and the district remained at the 18th position.

DC lauds 3 girl students

Karnal deputy commission­er Nishant Kumar Yadav congratula­ted residents of the village and said the district administra­tion honoured three girl students Anjuli, Khushi and Madhu for securing highest marks in the

Class 10 examinatio­n with cash awards.

The DC urged people to support them and the government to ensure a complete check on female foeticide and pre-birth sex determinat­ion tests to avoid killing of girls.

The district health department said that every year they identify a village with the best sex-ratio in district and the village panchayat is honoured for reporting maximum births of girl child.

Karnal chief medical officer Yogesh Sharma said that the health department has taken steps to ensure strict implementa­tion of the PNDT Act in district.
