ROHTAK: As many as seven persons were injured in a firing at Jind’s Siwaha village on Wednesday over a dispute for inviting JJP MLA from Julana, Amarjeet Dhanda, to a programme on February 27, even after farm unions and Khaps have banned entry of BJP-JJP leaders in district.

Jind DSP Pushpa Khatri said seven persons of Siwaha village, of both groups, are injured in the firing and are undergoing treatment at the local civil hospital.

“The situation is peaceful in the village. We have booked some villagers in the case. We have started a probe into the matter,” she added.

A faction led by outgoing sarpanch Ved Pal, who is a JJP supporter, had invited the legislator to the village. A section of villagers objected to the appreciation of the legislator while referring to his support to the current BJP-JJP government over three farm laws. The incident has created a dispute among both factions in the village. Social panchayats were held twice or thrice to resolve the matter without any positive outcome.

Pal alleged that the persons from the opponent side attacked his family and supporters on Wednesday.

“Three members of my family were coming towards the village on a bike. The assailants hit the bike with a car and tried to crush them leaving Ashok, Kulvinder and Rahul Injured,” he added.

The other faction, whose four persons received injuries in the scuffle said that Pal invited the MLA despite call for boycott of BJP-JJP leaders.
