194 deaths, 6,947 new virus infections in state

CHANDIGARH: Punjab on Monday recorded 194 Covid-related fatalities and 6,947 fresh cases.

The fresh cases on Monday were lower than Sunday’s 7,038, while 8,552 patients recovered from the illness.

According to media bulletin of the government, the number of active cases also declined from 75,478 on Sunday to 73,616. Among deaths, 24 were reported in Ludhiana followed by 19 in Bathinda, 18 in Sangrur, 17 in Amritsar and 15 in Fazilka.

Among fresh cases, SAS Nagar (Mohali) district reported highest 889 cases, followed by 851 in Ludhiana, 619 in Muktsar and 586 in Jalandhar.

The state’s positivity rate is 11.58% with SAS Nagar still topping the chart on this count with a figure of 31.84%. Ferozepur registered the second highest positivity rate at 26.28%.

With 8,552 recoveries, the number of cured persons reached 4,18,884 in Punjab.
