BEING DRAGGED INTO AN OLD MATTER: MINISTER
CHANDIGARH: Cabinet minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Monday said he was being dragged into a two-and-a-half-years old matter in which there was no complaint against him.
The minister, who is discontented over the state government’s handling of sacrilege cases and the legal setback in the 2015 Kotkapura police firing case, said he had made his position very clear when this controversy was first raked up. “If you raise sacrilege cases and problems of Dalits, this is how they try to get you,” he said.
The cabinet minister was also planning to hold a press conference on Tuesday but decided to call it off after All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary in-charge of party affairs Harish Rawat intervened and spoke to him. Channi said Rawat told him that the party high command was aware of the goings-in in the state government.
