Girls outsmart boys as PSEB declares results of Class 8, 10

MOHALI: The Punjab School Education Board on Monday declared results of classes 8 and 10 on the basis of a continuous comprehens­ive evaluation (CCE) for the former and internal assessment for the latter. The results will be uploaded on the PSEB’s official website www.pseb.ac.in and www.indiaresul­ts.com on Tuesday after 8am. In Class 10, 99.93% of students cleared the exam as out of the total 3,21,384 students, 3,21,163 passed. In Class 8, the pass percentage is 99.88% as out of the total 3,07,272 students, 3,06,894 have passed.

Continuing the trend this year too, girls outshone boys in both the classes. In Class 10, the pass percentage of girls is 99.94%, while that of boys is 99.92%. In Class 8, the pass percentage of girls is 99.9%, and boys’ is 99.86%.PSEB chairperso­n Yograj said it was for the first time that the board had recorded a pass percentage of above 99% in both the classes. He said for the third consecutiv­e year, government schools have performed far better than affiliated and associated schools. For Class 10, the pass percentage of government schools is 99.96%, while in affiliated schools, it is 99.89% and in associated schools, it is 99.85%.

Similarly for Class 8, the pass percentage of government schools is 99.91%, while in affiliated and associated schools, it is 99.85% and 99.77%, respective­ly.

In Class 10, Rupnagar topped the state by scoring 99.99% pass percentage, followed by Bathinda with 99.97%. Tarn Taran remained at the bottom with 99.89%. In Class 8, Tarn

Taran topped the charts by achieving 99.97% pass percentage followed by Bathinda with 99.96%. Muktsar Sahib was at the bottom with 99.28%.

PSEB chairman said that if a child is not satisfied with the result, he/she can take the theory exam once the normalcy returns. “For Class 10, they can write to us on matricsecr­ecy.pseb@punjab.gov.in and for Class 8, the email id is primarymid­dle.pseb@punjab.gov.in,” he added.
