JALANDHAR: Punjab state consumer disputes redressal commission has directed the Jalandhar deputy commissioner (DC) to seal the office of Jalandhar Improvement Trust (JIT) chairman for not releasing pending dues of a flat allottee in Surya Enclave Extension in the city.

The commission, while hearing the plea of Sukhdev Singh Sehgal, said the complaints date back to 2014-15 and the EAs (execution applications) are of 2015-16 onwards. “As the JIT is not complying with execution orders, we are forced to take coercive measures,” the commission stated.

The commission directed the Jalandhar DC to submit a compliance report on the sealing of the office before July 16.

The commission further said that non-bailable warrants issued against JIT chairman Daljit Singh Ahluwalia to the police commissioner on June 7 has not been received back-- executed or unexecuted.

The commission, thus, issued a fresh non-bailable warrant against Ahluwalia for procuring his presence for framing of charges on July 16. The commission also directed a fresh letter to be written to the police commissioner to look into the matter personally.

“It is directed that if the warrants are not executed upon, then the police official(s) deputed to execute the warrants should appear before this commission for recording their statement for initiating proceedings under Sections 82 and 83 of the Code of Criminal Procedure,” the order said.

The complainant had approached the consumer forum, seeking their money back, after JIT failed to hand over the flats to allottees in Surya Enclave Extension. JIT officials said they will release the money to the flat allottee before the next hearing.
