65-YEAR-OLD KULLU WOMAN INJURED IN LEOPARD ATTACK

A leopard attacked a 65-year-old woman within her residence in Chuhani village, Kullu, on Wednesday. The victim, Maltu Devi, sustained bite injuries on her arms.

Hearing her scream, villagers gathered at her house, forcing the leopard to return to the forest.

Maltu Devi was taken to the community health centre, while efforts are being made to trace the leopard.

“We have asked the forest department to take measures to trap the leopard,” said Kullu superinten­dent of police (SP) Gaurav Singh.

The wildlife wing of forest department in Shimla has also received several complaints about leopards being spotted in backyard of localities in Shimla.

Two days ago a feline was spotted at Kanlog locality below Dhalli at the Tutti Kandi bypass.
