Rajasthan Royals’ s Ben Stokes out of IPL with broken finger

-

Rajasthan Royals all-rounder Ben Stokes has been ruled out of IPL with a broken finger, the franchise said late on Tuesday. “Rajasthan Royals allrounder Ben Stokes injured a finger on his left hand while fielding during the team’s match against Punjab Kings. Subsequent investigations revealed that he sustained a broken finger, which will unfortunately rule him out of the remainder of IPL,” the RR said in a statement.

The injury happened when Stokes dived forward to take a low catch to dismiss Punjab’s Chris Gayle in the 10th over. Already without Jofra Archer, who underwent a hand surgery and is due to return to light training this week, Stokes’s absence will be a huge blow for RR.

“We are delighted that Ben would like to stay with the group to provide his valued support and inputs. In the meantime, we will be reviewing potential replacement options for the season,” the statement added.
