Covid claims two lives each in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal

SRINAGAR Jammu and Kashmir reported 181 fresh Covid-19 infections and two deaths on Friday, the official health bulletin said.

Of the total cases, 156 cases were reported in Kashmir valley, while the Jammu division saw 25 infections.

Srinagar district has the highest number of active cases at 588, ahead of Baramulla and Jammu districts that have 324 and 143 active cases, respective­ly.

Since the pandemic started, the overall cases in J&K have reached 3,37,444, among which 4,479 patients have died. Jammu district has the highest number of fatalities (1,151), followed by Srinagar with 868 deaths.

51 test positive in HP

DHARAMSHAL­A Covid-19 claimed two more lives in Himachal Pradesh, while 51 people tested positive for the infection on Friday.

Kangra led the daily tally with 18 cases, followed by Shimla with 16, Solan 10, Mandi three, Hamirpur two, and Kinnaur and Una one each. With this, the state’s caseload reached 2,27,405, while death toll climbed to 3,835. Currently, 797 patients are still fighting the virus, while 2,22,756 have successful­ly beaten it.
