JAMMU : Police phone lines were flooded with calls by worried residents after a trail of bright lights were spotted in the sky across Rajouri, Poonch, Kathua, Samba and Jammu districts in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday evening.

Residents pulled out their mobile phones as the mysterious lights darted through the sky, worried these may be a form of infiltration by terrorists.

However, a senior police officer said these were satellites travelling at low orbit.

Drones have been repeatedly spotted in the region since June 27 when a drone was used to target the Indian Air Force base in Jammu with explosives. The explosives left two personnel injured.
