Police raid houses of suspected terrorists in Kishtwar, Pulwama
Police’s Special Investigation Unit (SIU) on Wednesday conducted raids at multiple locations in Kishtwar district, officials said.
Sharing details, Kishtwar senior superintendent of police (SSP) Khalil Poswal said, “After obtaining house search warrants from National Investigation Agency (NIA) court in Jammu in a case registered under unlawful activities prevention act (UAPA) against five terrorists, SIU sleuths searched their houses and residential premises in Kishtwar today.”
The official identified the terrorists as Shahnawaz of Chirool Padyarna, Nayeem Ahmed of Kishtwar, Mohammad Iqba of Kichloo Market Kishtwar, Shahnawaz Kanth of Hullar and Javid Hussain Giri of Kundali Pochal, adding that the terrorists were operating from Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Kashmir.
“During the course of searches, evidence collected shall be investigated so as to subject the accused persons to judicial determination for their involvement in anti-national activities and perpetuation of terrorism,” Poswal said.
He added that associates of the terrorists whose involvement surfaced during investigations shall also be prosecuted.
SIU, meanwhile, also conducted raids at the houses of three suspects of a militancy case in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Police searched residential houses of three suspects namely Manzoor Ahmed Wani, Mouhsin Ahmed Loan and Ariaf Bashir Bhat in Tral area.
The case in question had been registered under sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Arms Act.
“During the search, proper standard operating procedures were followed, relevant information was gathered and incriminating material was recovered,” a spokesperson said.
