There’s nothing like a warm, delicious mug cake to turn around a bad day. A great fix for your sweet tooth cravings, the unpretenti­ous dessert never fails to bring out the child in you. Relive your fondest childhood memories with these easy-to-make mug cake recipes shared by our experts:

IT’S GONNA GET GOOEY A chocolate loaded mug cake is the fix for all your chocolate yearnings. Pour ½cup of flour with 5tbsp sugar, 2tbsp cocoa powder and a mix of one egg, 3tbsp of milk and 3tbsp vegetable oil. Add a dash of vanilla extract and a pinch of salt and whisk it all until you have a smooth texture. Place it in the microwave for two minutes till it’s all fluffy. Add two scoops of vanilla ice-cream, spatter some nuts and garnish with drizzled chocolate syrup on top. Voila! Rich and gooey choco mug cake with ice-cream surprise is ready to eat.

NUTTY GOODNESS Who doesn’t love hazelnut-cocoa spread? To flavour your mug cake with it, take ¼cup of the spread, crack a large egg open and add ½tsp of cocoa powder. Also add 4 tbsp of self-rising flour to it. Whisk it all up with a fork until it’s unruffled. Then microwave it for 2-3 minutes. You can sprinkle some powdered sugar on it when it’s out of the microwave.

BUTTERSCOT­CH DELIGHT This butterly delight can melt anyone’s heart. First, grease the mug with olive oil. In a sep- arate small bowl, mix all the dry ingredient­s (4tsp flour and 1tsp sugar) and after mixing, add ¼low-fat yogurt and 1½tbsp milk. Then stir in 2tbsp of butterscot­ch morsels. Put the mixture in a mug and microwave for one and a half minutes, and serve. It’s fresh, vibrant and crunchy.

BERRY DELICIOUS Pack the freshness of berries in a mug. To make this delectable blueberry cake, blend 4tsp flour, ¼tsp baking powder, 2½tsp sugar, pour 3tsp milk and ½tsp vegetable oil. Don’t forget to drop ¼tsp vanilla extract for flavour and make sure the batter is smooth. Stir in the lovely blueberrie­s and microwave it for about a minute. Something warm and hearty made in no time!

A PIECE OF VELVET Want to dig into a luscious red velvet mug cake? Take a large mug and whisk together a large egg with 3tbsp vegetable oil. Add 1tsp of liquid red food colouring, 3tbsp buttermilk and 2tsp pure vanilla extract. Sprinkle ¼cup of sugar, 2tbsp cocoa powder, about ¼cup self-rising flour, ¼tsp vinegar and whip the batter until it’s even. Microwave first for one and a half minutes, and then for two and a half minutes, separately until its risen and firm. Savour the earthy silkiness of this mug cake with every bite.
