I won’t play goody roles, says Shweta

AAnjuri Nayar Singh ctor Shweta Tiwari (left), who rose to fame with her role as Prerna in Ekta Kapoor’s Kasautii Zindagii Kay, says she has deliberately stayed away from playing positive roles since.

“I’m not at all interested in playing goody roles. The leads in daily soaps are so positive and sweet. In fact, that is the only shade that they have. I like to play different shades through my characters,” says Tiwari.

The actor adds that she makes sure to never take up similar roles. “Playing the same role again and again can get so monotonous. If you see all the roles that I’ve played so far, they’ve been so different. I will never choose something that I have done before,” says Tiwari, who goes on to reveal that she once declined an offer of a TV show as she knew she would get bored of the character eventually.

“I don’t want to take the name of the show, but when it started, it was a hit and I had no regrets. But the show went off air in a while. For me, it is very important that I don’t get bored with my role,” she adds.

Television actors have hectic schedules and Tiwari says that this leaves her with no time to watch TV, not even her own shows. “I hardly get time to see myself on screen. We are shooting most of the time and it’s tough to take out time. The only time that I can see myself as the character is in my mind, when I am reading the script,” says Tiwari.
