The season of flowers is here and floral prints are back on the shelves for both men and women. Experts reveal how to make the most of this trend

What do Salma Hayek, Jennifer Lawrence, Cate Blanchett and Lana Del Rey have in common? All the international celebrities were recently spotted in floral prints, hinting at the arrival of Spring — a season that is all about flower power. In fact, blooms, in diverse patterns and hues, have been flourishing on the outfits of several Indian actors as well — be it Kangana Ranaut or Priyanka Chopra, who made her debut Oscar appearance in a white sheer gown with flower appliques.

“Nature is a supreme inspiration; it has inspired the life-long work of many artists. The unlimited archives of botanicals, explored by artists, are a huge resource for designers. Apart from this, we always explore nature around us, and hence, it reappears every season in one or the other form,” says designer Anavila Misra.

The recent fashion weeks in New York (USA), London (UK) and Milan (Italy) also exuded a playful vibe, with several collections bringing forth this power pattern in all its glory. Fashion houses like Leitmotiv, Blumarine, Prada and Fendi, among others, romanced florals through their lines, stressing on their importance at this time of the year. “Florals are classic. We can tweak them every season, according to the trends, and make them work fabulously. They provide so much variety every time one wants to work with them,” says designer Swati Vijaivargie.

So, as the season of flower magic settles in, it’s time to give your wardrobe a makeover with some spiffy options as suggested by fashion experts.
