Lucknow girl Shaifali Dixit Mishra has made it to the final round of Mrs India 2017 and is now preparing hard to bring home the crown to her hometown.

A banker, Shaifali was born in Lucknow and settled in Denver, United States, after she got married in March 2016. She did her schooling from City Montessori School, went to New Delhi in 2011 for MBA and then moved to France on scholarship to complete the second part of MBA. “I always yearned to participate in a pageant where brain and talent were given consideration over a beautiful body and face,” she tells HT City. The final round will be held from April 12 to 15 in New Delhi. There will be nine rounds in four days including fitness round, designer, introduction, where she has to take question from the judges. Apart from Shaifali there are two-dozen more contestants in the finals.

“I owe my entry in the contest to my husband who knew that I have interest in pageants like these. He randomly asked me to try my luck despite the fact that my engagement with studies and work never allowed me to fill up forms,” she admits candidly. Her husband belongs to Nasik.

“My in-laws are not only supporting me but are more excited than me. My husband is my biggest supporter and biggest critic, which gives me a motivation to work hard,” says Shaifali.

Her dream is to open a centre for senior citizens who don’t have any support left so that they can make friends, play and stay relaxed without thinking about the loneliness. Shaifali says after winning the contest she will definitely promote the idea. “But yes the first thing is to bring the crown home. My roots are from Lucknow and it will be a great achievement to bring the crown here,” says a confident Shaifali.
