PROF BALRAJ CHAUHAN

Prof Balraj Chauhan is associated with Amity University, Lucknow Campus as Director of Law School. Before joining Amity Law School, Prof Chauhan has served as vice chancellor of Dr Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University, Lucknow and NLIU Bhopal. He has also been the member of UP State Law Commission, a member of UP State Legal Services Authority and executive member of Shastri IndoCandian Institute New Delhi. Prof Chauhan has a special interest in criminal law, criminology and clinical legal education. Prof Chauhan has completed several projects funded by the state and other national and international agencies.

Prof Chauhan is a distinguished scholar and was awarded Dr Kumarappa Reckless award in 2009 for his contribution in the field of criminology. He has received prestigious fellowships, including the Common Wealth Foundation fellowship -2011, and fellowship of Indian Society of Criminology. He is visiting faculty in several National Law Universities, Judiciary Training Research Institute, NIPCED and NJA to name a few.

Prof Chauhan has published several articles in journals of national and international repute and has authored two books as well and edited a book on human rights. Having more than thirty-five years of teaching and research experience, Prof Chauhan is well versed with project formulation, financial planning, budgeting of proposals, resource management, monitoring and organising workshops training programmes and seminars. He has been associated with the National Institute of Criminology and Forensic Science and Bureau of Police Research and Development, Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi, and has visited various universities in US, UK, South Africa, Italy, Uganda &Philippines.
