Deepika turns into a green goddess

For her second redcarpet walk at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival, actor Deepika Padukone (above) decided to have some fun.

Dressed in a Grecian, custom-made dress by designer Brandon Maxwell, she topped the look with a high-set bun, neutral lips and dramatic jewel-toned eyes. Cannes is no Met Gala, so the sartorial and beauty looks usually fall under the ‘safe’ bracket. But, like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s purple lips last year, Dippy decided to make some makeup noise with her bold eyes.

Beauty experts feel that Deepika pulled it off. “It’s a look done to death for fashion shows — a pulledout shadow in emerald green. But it’s a bold thing for the red carpet and Deepika is bold enough to carry it with aplomb,” says beauty expert Ambika Pillai.

Makeup artist Vidya Tikari says, “Rather than a smokey eye, I’d call it an out-swept extension. For me, the look works. It’s very doable.”
