When I sign a film, I don’t worry about body transformation: Hooda
Actor Randeep Hooda (right) lost 18 kg for his role in the film Sarbjit (2016) and then beefed up to play the role of a fighter in his film Do Lafzon Ki Kahani (2016). However, the actor is quite comfortable undergoing physical transformations and he says it does not stress him at all. “I am not overtly worried about this because I signed up for it when the film came to me and it is my choice. I can choose not to do the role and I can choose to just walk through the role and change my hairstyle, clothes and stuff,” says Randeep, who has been a part of films such as Heroine (2012), Highway (2014) and Sultan (2016).
The actor asserts that the excitement of living a character is bigger than anything else for him. “Undergoing changes is a matter of [health] concern but for me it’s all about the experience. In Sarbjit, I wanted to experience starvation, confinement and isolation, so I prepared for that. I could connect more with the role when I knew how that person would feel in difficult situations. For Do Lafzon Ki Kahani, I had to prepare as a prize fighter. I went to the gym two hours in the morning and two hours in the evening and I ate a lot. I had to bulk up and yet look fit at the same time. By the end of it all, if the final look of the role comes out well, all the hard work which goes into it feels worth it,” he says.
