STUDENTS KEEP IT SIMPLE AND STYLISH
With the admission season almost over, college freshers are gearing up for a new phase in their lives.
It’s a time of excitement, nervousness and first impressions for them. And as far as couture goes, it seems they want to leave no chances to impress their batch-mates and seniors.
At Lucknow University and IT College, the excited freshers can be seen sporting smart outfits as they receive warm welcome from their seniors and college authorities.
“I have made special efforts to get some new and trendy outfits, such as, turtle-neck and v-neck tops, Polo T-shirts, kurtis, jeans and jeggings. Unlike school, college is also about trend and fashion,” says IT College student Ashvi Mishra, adding, “So far, I like the environment here. It’s a new phase of my life.”
Girls say if they dress impeccably, they are remembered. They also speak about the advantages of keeping it simple and elegant. T-shirts with illustrations and quotes, boat-neck tops, bell sleeves, and denim shirts are the latest trends of 2017, they say.
Most say that despite a vast variety to choose from, they prefer wearing jeans or leggings – and preferably with round-neck tops and cotton kurtas. A smart handbag / sling bag completes the look.
“Some things are evergreen. Classic blue jeans never grow old and are musthaves in your wardrobe. The easiest way to wear them is to go for printed tops. Also, we must realise that fashion is not about skin show,” says IT college student Prashansa Singh.
LU student Meenakshi Saxena offers an easy-tofollow advice. “If you're confused about what to wear on the first day of college, choose something simple yet stylish. Shirts with standing or peter pan collars in comfortable fabrics like cotton are my favourites,” she says.
Simple look wins hands down. Most say that comfort is the top priority. “Comfort is the key to get that elegant look,” says a student.
Some choicest picks seen on campuses this year include: Simple T-shirts, coldshoulder tops, checked-shirts and rugged jeans. Teens are accessorising these with crafted faux-leather backpacks, tote bags and canvas shoes.
“Looking decent is the way to crack the most graceful look in college. Styling plain tees with printed palazzos, and striped shirts with blue denims are my favourite choices,” says LU student Swasthi Sharma.
Meanwhile, boys too are taking care of how they look. And like the girls, they agree that simplicity is the key.
“Wearing t-shirts with quotes and pairing them with ripped jeans and converse shoes works for me. Completing the look with a shoulder bag is my style,” says LU student Rahul Mishra.
