he controversy around television show Pehredaar Piya Ki, which tells the tale of a nineyear-old boy married to an adult woman, is not likely to die out anytime soon. Actor Karan Wahi (left), who had earlier spoken against the show, urging the makers not to ‘sell me stupidity in the name of content’ on social media, got flak from the shows’ producers, Shashi Mittal and Sumeet Mittal, at a press conference in Mumbai. They slammed him for commenting on the show without knowing much about it and said they don’t want to give him ‘unnecessary publicity’ by reacting to it.

Karan, however, says it is his opinion and no pressure will change it. “I wasn’t present at the conference; so I don’t think I should say much or else who knows, I might get trolled again. In our country, we are entitled to freedom of speech. Still, if they want to take action against me, they are more than welcome,” says the actor, adding that unlike what has been said against him, he doesn’t need to do anything for publicity.

Actor Suyyash Rai, who stars in the show, also urged everyone not to listen to Karan and watch the show. Reacting to it, Karan shares, “I wrote whatever I felt about the show and I didn’t say anything derogatory. Not everyone will agree with my opinion and I understand that. But I think we should be open to criticism. Also, there is no bad blood between me and Suyyash. I hope the show does well for those working on it.”
