Shriya Pilgaonkar believes in taking up projects that she would like to watch herself. The Fan (2016) actor admits that she is not in a hurry to take up scripts for the sake of work. “I am not a very strategic person. Fortunately, for young actors like me, we can pick and choose projects as we like. Those lines between television, films and web are blurring. You are now known for your work, irrespective of the medium. For me, the story of the project is important. I kind of rely on my instinct.”

The actor will be now seen in a web series with Ali Fazal and is excited about exploring this medium. “I have seen the growth of digital content and was keen on exploring the medium. However, I decided to wait it out and be part of a project that will help show my diversity,” adds Shriya.

On the current trend of web shows, she adds, “It is easy to identify the ones that are good and the ones that are made just for the sake of it. For me, the production value of a project is important as I am at that stage of my career where I have to be careful of what I pick and who I am associated with.”

With so much talent and legacy at home, does she consult her parents before taking up a project? “I do keep them in the loop.

When I am close to signing a project, I do discuss it with them as their input and advice is valuable. But they have never instructed me, instead they always tell me to ask the right questions. This has helped me get to know myself better.”

The pretty actor made her Marathi debut with Ekluti Ek in 2013 and is keen on exploring the industry. “I feel close to the Marathi industry, thanks to my parents. But I have to be extra cautious about picking roles as I don’t want to get stereotyped. I want to do exceptional work in Marathi. Hence, I am being patient.”
