Prasad Oak to play Bahirji Naik

- Anjali Shetty

Prasad Oak will be seen in three different avatars in the first half of 2018. The actor-director, shares details about his forthcoming films slated to hit the screen next year. The Kaccha Limbu director is in talks for a few projects but it will be a while till they pan out. On the other hand, as an actor, he will be seen in Anant Mahadevan’s Doctor Rakhmabai, Viju Mane’s Shikari and Digpal Lanjekar’s Farzand. “I am excited about playing Bahirji Naik in Farzand. The story is based on Farzand Kondaji, a maval (Maratha soldier) and it is a period film. It has me in heavy drapery and makeup, and portraying the character has been an interesting process.”

This year, Prasad has made a comeback on television with comedy, and is currently seen on television with his friend and colleague, Pushkar Shrotri. “All this while, the audiences have seen me either play a positive or grey character on the small screen. I rarely got to portray comedy on TV. And, the best part about this show is my pairing with Pushkar. Our off-screen chemistry reflects on screen and we complement each other. We are aware of each other’s comic timings and style, which makes the entire process click and the result is hilarious for the audience.” The duo have come together on television after a gap of 10 years. Prasad adds, “I have known Pushkar for 20 years now.So, working with him is always fun.”

Prasad will be in Pune over the weekend for the three-part play directed by Chandrakant Kulkarni.
