Mix bag of emotions
The third and fourth day of ongoing Repertwahr Festival saw plays directed by charismatic Manav Kaul. Bali and Shambhu, starring Kumud Mishra and Sudhir Pandey was staged on Wednesday. Set in an old age home, it’s a story of two inmates. The play was a mixed of emotions with comedy in backdrop. The sets were kept simple and touched various aspects of life.
Another drama Chuhal was staged on Thursday which is Manav’s first play in which he himself acted opposite Lucknow girl Shrishti Srivastava. That audience was treated with such mixed bag of emotions for more than an hour. It was clearly visible that a lot of intense thinking and hard-work has gone into scripting of the play. ‘Chuhal’ that means mirthful banter made a great impact on the female audience.
As usual the days stated with poet and author Yatindra Mishra helming the ‘Meet the Star’ session. He interacted with the cast, musicians and comedians on various aspects.
Wednesday also saw standup comedian Abhishek Upmanyu cracking jokes related to family, friends, siblings, relationships and English. In the music festival, folk singer Mame Khan sang songs not many have heard which have been written by Kaur Bhagat, Shah Latif and some excerpts from Mathar Fakir.
On Thursday, comedian Gaurav Kapoor charmed one and all by his informal approach towards all questions put forward. He also stated that the field of comedy is in the budding state and there is scope for exploration.
Kerala-based band Chai Met Toast, comprising of Ashwin Gopakumar and Achyuth Jaigopal, mesmerised audience with their “happy” songs.
