DR LAXMI GAUTAM, VRINDAVAN CATEGORY: SOCIAL SERVICE

Dr Laxmi Gautam, an associate professor, warmly called Angel of Vrindavan, had been working tirelessly in bringing justice to a number of women who have been abandoned by their families. She is not only working for their welfare but also provides them with basic amenities which is also called “City of Widows.” Gautam not only work for their well being while they are alive but she also provides them with decent last rites so that they achieve salvation. In memory of her mother-in-law, she formed an organization which is efficiently working round the clock to help unfortunate women and children getting their basic needs. Not just this Gautam had also put up a fight against female foeticide, education of children, child or women abuse and many others. She had been awarded several national and international awards from Government/Nongovernmental organizations Nari Shakti Puraskar by President of India, Women Transforming India Awards by United Nations and Niti Ayog, National 100 WomenAward by Ministry of Women and Child Development, Jijabai Award by Delhi University, Nari Shiksha & Suraksha Samman by UP Gov and Hindustan, Devi Award by CM of UP. CRPF Acknowledgment of her work, Assocham Grassroot Women Award, Reliance Foundation Real Heroes Award, Nari Shakti Award by Aadhar Foundation, Amar Ujala Rupayan Achievers Award and several others.
