Aspectacular dance drama performance ‘Murlidhar’ based on life of Lord Krishna was organised at Sant Gadge Auditorium of Sangeet Natak Academy on Saturday evening. The drama was held on the occasion of third death anniversary of Dauji Maharaj, a renowned vocalist and violinist.
The chief guest on the occasion was Iskcon Lucknow chairman Aprimay Shyam Das. An attempt was made to show the various forms of Lord Krishna in the play by kids aged between five to 14 years. “They belonged to different English medium schools of the city and it was amazing to see them speak in perfect Brij bhasha throughout their roles,” said Vinamra Agarwal who helped with stage and lighting production.
They performed on stage with sheer enthusiasm, to bring forth a plethora of emotions which brought the audience, close to tears. They projected the life of Krishna with the liveliness of his childhood days and courageous acts of adulthood. They performed acts including Krishna’s childhood pranks, word banters with ‘gopi’s’, confrontations with his mother Yashodha and his courage to fight with Kansa and more.
Amongst the melodies of song and music, the children presented scenes of ‘baal leela’, which made the people sitting in the auditorium quite emotional. The duet dance sequence of Krishna and Kalia naag fight earned huge applause. The scene, on stage, of the complains received by Yashodha, regarding his habit of ‘makhan chori’, also left the audience in splits.
