No adult comedies for the producer in John Abraham

Hindustan Times (Lucknow) - Live - - FRONT PAGE - Prashant Singh ■

He has successfully completed 15 years as an actor. But as a producer too, John Abraham has been equally prolific and successful. Till date, he has produced almost half-a-dozen films including his latest hit, Parmanu. How does he manage to wear both the hats fruitfully? “It’s simple. As a producer, I am very clear that if a certain actor fits a particular part, I will approach that person because I want the best for my film. I don’t power everything with my presence,” he says.

In fact, John readily admits that he is “never the best choice for all my films”. “And it’s because my scripts are extremely varied. So, be it Tiger Shroff, Varun Dhawan, Rajkummar Rao, Ayushmann Khurrana, Sonakshi Sinha or Rani Mukerji, if any of them fits the bill perfectly, I will reach out to them,” says the Force (2011) actor, while admitting that he wants to “produce commercial potboilers”. “However, I en up putting pressure on mys and taking up difficult films (laughs). I get a jab on my ch a lot of times but I still get u as I enjoy that process. Afte Parmanu, maybe, I will wo on something more difficu in terms of content. But something that I cannot do a producer is adult comedy don’t have the capability f that (smiles),” he adds.
