New show portrays relations with a tinge of humour

-

‘I will go back to my parents’ – this is a common threat that married men often come across. This concept has been packaged in the new TV show ‘Main Maike Chali Jaungi Tum Dekhte Rahiyo’ which was launched recently.

“You will find all the characters full of love and warmth, and sometimes a bit sour. The viewers will easily relate to the show’s concept. It is not a typical ‘saas-bahu’ drama but is filled with comedy,” says Shristi Jain who plays the lead character Jaya.

Shristi was in Lucknow with the cast to attend a promotional event of the show. She was accompanied by Neelu Vaghela, Nimish Taneja and Aditi Deshpande.

“I think destiny brought me here (Mumbai) and gave me the opportunity. I am totally enjoying my character. Jaya is like Kareena Kapoor of ‘Jab We Met’ – full of life”, says Shristi.

As per Indian culture, marriage is not only the bond between husband and wife but a union of two families. After marriage, it is the daughter who has to leave the house and adjust in the new environment. The show also questions why it’s woman who has to sacrifice everything after marriage.

“I think the concept of divorce is shown in this show in right manner. It is not to hurt anyone’s feelings but to entertain. In today’s world, if someone is not happy with their marriage then I think separation is not wrong. They can get divorce and live happily without any compromise”, says Neelu Vaghela, famous as ‘Bhabho’ in ‘Diya and Baati Hum’.

She is playing the role of Satya Devi who is a divorce lawyer and mother of Jaya (Srishti).

Playing the role of a tough mother-in-law, Neelu says: “I can easily relate to my character and I am enjoying it fully. My husband always jokes that I am getting training for future as we have a daughter.”

Portraying the character of Samar, Nimish Taneja, known for lead role in Swaragini, said: “Of course, I don’t want this type of mother-in-law in my real life. She is a loving mother but also over-concerned about her daughter. She is too much involved in the married life of her daughter which creates problems.”

Coming to the City of Nawabs for the first time, Marathi actress Aditi Deshpande, who is playing the character of Rama (mother-in-law of Jaya), says, “Being a nonvegetarian I love the food here. The people here are warm. That is why when someone visits Lucknow it feels like home. The city is known for its culture, literature and monuments.”

Aired on Sony TV, the show will take you to the journey of Jaya and Samar who fell in love and get married. Their experience of married life with Satya Devi’s interference forms the crux of the story.
