It’s matter of heart when it comes to passion
In profession mind rules but when it comes to passion it is heart over mind, opined experts during the ‘Heart Over Mind – Passion or Profession’ session during the Lucknow Literature Festival on Saturday.
In the panel were eye surgeon-photographer Dr Shobhit Chawla, Faculty of Architecture, UPTU, principal and dean-painter Vandana Sehgal, urological cancer and robotic surgeon-author Dr V Srinivas. They were in conversation with LLF president Jaideep Narain Mathur.
“One has to do away from what mind says when it comes to passion. It’s like ‘Dil Toh Pagal Hai’. In profession you can’t do the same. It comes from mind with some heart into it too,” says Dr Chawla who has followed his passion of photography and cooking. His exhibition comprising of 20 photographs on the theme ‘An ode to light’ is also on display during the festival.
Sehgal feels blessed that her passion and profession are closely interlinked. “They are almost symbiotic — one takes from another and adds on to it. My art is different from others as I come from an architecture background. I will add that my art has evolved over the years and is become more spiritual and mythological and gives me a lot of satisfaction as it comes from the heart.” Her paintings are also on display at the LLF.
On a query on existence of God, Dr Srinivas said, “At times we get two cancer patients with type of ailment. We do same kind of treatment on both. And, it happens that one gets cured while other dies. What will you call it? We just treat and it’s he who cures.” Srinivas has authored fiction based on facts ‘A Tale of Two Homes’ and is his second book will be out soon.
