Actor Sumeet Vyas, who, until a while back, enjoyed recognition mostly with the web audience, received a major boost when he starred alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan in last year’s Veere Di Wedding.

He is now shooting for the Rajkummar Rao and Mouni Roy-starrer Made in China, and also a web series. “Sometimes, it does get a bit hectic. But I plan a day or two off amidst back-to-back schedules. Otherwise, I won’t be able to survive!” says the actor, who is, for the first time in his acting career, playing a character with grey shades in Made in China.

Sumeet, who was seen in English Vinglish (2012) and last year’s Ribbon (2017), says he is enjoying his role in Made in China. “There’s a lot of meat to the character. As an actor, you want to play parts that are out of your comfort zone. It was definitely a conscious decision, because I have been doing a certain type of part. I got bored of that and wanted to break away,” he explains. But he’s happy with whatever roles that have come his way so far. “Some of them have been the parts I wanted to do, some are yet to come. It’s been an interesting journey. I am doing whatever I am doing, and have to take wiser decisions. That was important,” says Sumeet.

Talking about his journey in the film industry and the raging movement against sexual harassment, the actor confesses that initially there were people who would offer work to him in return for sexual favours. “On and off you do meet people who try to make propositions. I don’t think anybody can cast me for a part if I am not fit for it, if I have physical relations. It never made sense to me. It was easy for me to walk away. But if I am deserving then I don’t think anything can stop me,” Sumeet signs off.
