Richa shoots for a special calendar for her next

Celebrity calendars, which were considered to be an innovation of sorts at one point, have become a popular promotional element in Bollywood since a couple of years now. For her next film Shakeela, Richa Chadha will be posing for fictionalised posters of movies inspired by the some films from the ’90s. This would be the first time a movie will have a dedicated fun calendar starring it’s central character.

A source reveals, “These posters are meant to be cheeky and yet are induced with a great deal of thought as an homage to films of the bygone era. Every month has Richa posing in a new avatar with a completely made up poster of a fictional movie. The calendar will come with a warning to the consumers that each of these images and posters bear no resemblance to any real life inspired people or any other actual films. They are to be taken in light humour and to enjoy the kitschy world of Shakeela from the late ’90s.”

Talking about the unique idea, Richa says,

“Even though our film is still in post production, we wanted to do something special for Shakeela’s birthday (January 13). We, as a team, thought that we should pay this homage to her. It’s quirky and tongue-incheek, so we are aware that many people may not understand it. But there’s an underbelly to cinema and that often is crazy and colourful. I hope people understand the humour in this calendar and enjoy the world of these ’90s pulp films”.
