PM Modi and the film fraternity were in discussion for using the power of cinema for positive change
Bollywood’s gen next, including actors Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, Sidharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan, Ranbir Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar, and Vicky Kaushal met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday to discuss films and the impact they have on society.
Organised by filmmakers Karan Johar and Mahaveer Jain, the stars came to Delhi for the meeting. Jain tells us, “PM believes our industry is a soft power, and we contribute a lot to the society as the influence is huge. We thanked him for the GST reduction in ticket prices.”
Rajkummar says, “It was an honour to join my industry mates in this discussion with our Prime Minister. Initiatives like these catalyse positive change not just for cinema but society as a whole.”
Filmmaker Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, who was also a part of the delegation, tells us, “It was an interaction that takes storytelling to new heights. We talked about building a better society through entertainment.”
Johar also took to Instagram to share his thoughts on the meet. “As a community, there is a huge interest to contribute to nation building. There is so much that we want to do. And can do and this dialogue was towards how and what ways we can do that…” he wrote.
Last month, a group of actors and filmmakers, including Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, and Siddharth Roy Kapur, met the PM in Mumbai to discuss issues faced by the film industry.
