Life has come full circle for actor Bobby Deol — he had played his father, actor Dharmendra’s younger avatar in the 1977 film Dharamveer, and now that he’s grown up, he got to play the adult Dharamveer in Housefull 4! Amused at the mention of the fact, he says, “We had shot the film a long time ago because there was a lot of VFX. We had wrapped up in December last year. It was fun, as you had to imagine yourself from a different period. A lot of people thought that I was playing my dad from Dharamveer. My name in Housefull 4 is also Dharamputra!”

Evidently, Bobby had a great time shooting for the film that released recently and opened to a mixed response. The 50-year-old also has the web project, Class of ’83, in hand. And though people have been saying how the actor is raring to come back with a bang, Bobby doesn’t care about such terms. “I’m not coming back with a bang or anything,” the actor says, adding, “I’m glad I’m in a good space, and getting decent work. I was missing out on all the action. Thanks to Race 3 (2018), Salman [Khan, actor] presented me so well in the film, and saw to it that I gave my best. While shooting, I got lucky and got Housefull. Everyone noticed that ‘he’s really out there’. I’m glad to be a part of such films, and want to keep doing interesting roles.”

On the hazards of comedy, Bobby agrees that sometimes what is funny to someone might offend another. He says, “Comedy can be looked at in either a vulgar or a funny manner. It’s the perspective of each person; the way of looking at things. Housefull has always been a family film. The humour is such that every age would enjoy it. Riteish [Deshmukh, actor] and Akshay [Kumar, actor]’s chemistry is what makes this film work the most. They know each other so well. They are so impromptu, you are taken aback.”

His love for music spurred actor Ankit Gera to explore Punjabi songs as a singer. Having recorded and released five songs, the actor is currently working on two more tracks which will be out at the end of the year. Happy with the response to his vocals, Ankit is next planning to come up with his own singles. A self-taught artist, Ankit was interested in music since childhood but the actor could never get a formal training. But it all began when he learned guitar from a friend.

“One day I decided to learn a musical instrument from a friend and I would sing songs while playing the same. Whenever I would get a few hours’ breaks in between my TV shoots, I would practice playing the guitar and would sing along with it. Somewhere, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in music,” says the 32year-old actor. After his last show Agniphera got over, Ankit decided to take a break from TV and try his hand in the Punjabi film and music industry.

“It’s my mother tongue and I thought why not start my new journey from this industry. My first song Channa released last year and then there were Jhanjhraan, Nava Patola, Surma and Far away. I’m currently working on two more, which will release in the coming two months,” says the actor who is also simultaneously working on songs that he has already written. Ankit, who plans to concentrate on music for now, would only take up acting if good offers come his way.

“Right now my focus is music. The feedback that I have been getting is helping me better my skills. I have also been getting acting and playback offers from the Punjabi film industry. Let’s see what works out next,” he concludes.
