‘Will manage my schedules to not let go of good offers’
It’s not just because all TV actors aspire to get into Bollywood, that they at some point transition to films. In some cases, it also happens when working in one medium gets monotonous. For Sumona Chakravarti, who started her journey on the small screen with Kasam Se and went on to do several other hit shows besides a few successful films too, it’s slightly different. Unlike the lot, who have left their TV career behind to concentrate on films, Sumona clarifies that medium has never been a criteria for her.
“If I get the opportunity to do a good fiction show on TV, I’d love to take it up. If, while
I’m doing the show, I get a good film offer, I’d manage my schedules to make sure I don’t let a good offer, which is rare these days, go,” she says. Having said that, Sumona refrains from commenting on those who shifted gears and believes it’s an individual choice when it comes to the kind of work and medium one chooses to do.
“Personally, I prefer good work and for that I’m ready to strike a balance between TV and films. Also, if an interesting web offer or anything in theatre comes my way, I would consider it as well,” says the 31-year-old adding that her focus is to better her craft and do substantial work.
Given that she has been part of a comedy show for the past two years, it’s only but natural to get bored over the due course of time. Talking about the same, Sumona says, “I won’t deny that thought coming to me but then, I’m happy doing the show. The relationship I share with the team is amazing. Making people laugh is not an easy job.” Talking about theatre, Sumona expresses a keen interest in exploring the stage. Since she has had an amazing experience, she wants to pursue it further.
“To perform in front of a live audience has a charm of its own. I find the whole idea of travelling theatre quite fascinating,” she says.
