Women writers’ festival on Sunday

LLucknow is all set to host Women Writers’ Festival 2019 to be held at Habibullah Estate on Sunday. Organised by SheThePeop­le.TV, the fest will provide a forum for women writers from varied fields to come together and discuss issues that are important to the cultural and social fabric of Lucknow.

The focus of the festival will be ‘Lucknow: The culture, the history and the women who made the city’.

The panel discussion­s will bring together prominent names from the fraternity to offer insights on issues concerning the majority. This year the festival will delve deep into topics such as Chikankari as empowermen­t, Women and Financial Well being, The Pioneering Women Writers of

Lucknow, Akhtaribai Faizabadi, The Feisty Women of Awadh’s History, Raseedii Ticket and Lucknow as a Centre for Women’s Education.

In this edition of the Women Writers Fest, they have speakers such as Madhavi Kuckreja, Dr Kirti Narain, Saleem Kidwai, Fatima Rizvi, Mehru Jaffer, Dr Ranu Uniyal, Nina Kler, Jyotsna Kaur Habibullah, Asma Hussain, Dr Jaspal Kalra, Veena Singh Padrauna, Vandana Sehgal, Surabhi Modi Sahai, Devanshi Seth, Dr Nishi Pandey, Yatindra Misra, Kanak Rekha Chauhan, Aditi Maheshwari Goyal and many more discussing a range of diverse topics.

In addition, the fest will host an interactiv­e session with nutritioni­st Pooja Makhija on ‘Eating Right At Every Age’, a poetry panel curated by Kanak Rekha Chauhan and a workshop on ‘How To Build Your Social Media Brand’ by Kiran Manral and Shaili Chopra.

SheThePeop­le.TV founder Shaili Chopra said, “As I see it, Women Writers are breaking new ground as writers, script writers, micro fiction bloggers, authors, graphic artists, storytelle­rs. It’s the endeavour of the Women Writers Fest to connect, engage and elevate this community and create an emerging platform of ideas.”

The festival was held across Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru and Kolkata last year. This edition of the festival is curated by Shaili Chopra, Ideas editor Kiran Manral and Jyotsna Kaur Habibullah.
