Gigi won’t dress for approval
Gigi Hadid shut down fan complaints about her style choices, saying she isn’t here to meet their skyhigh expectations when it comes to style.
The 24-year-old model loves to go glam for the red carpet and runway shows but stepped out on Tuesday in a more casual and comfortable outfit. She wore a colour-blocked sweatshirt, black leggings and zip-up sneakers along with a puffer jacket.
Apparently, her laid-back look didn’t sit so well with a few fans. One of them tweeted, “She’s such a natural beauty... idon’tknow what happened to her iconic street style tho.”
Hadid swiftly clapped back at the critic and tweeted, “U guys need to calm tf down sometimes. It’s called stepping out to do one errand — not dressing for your approval. Your unrealistic expectations & petty complaining all the time about my style or not being sexy enough isn’t going to make me dress differently.”
The supermodel added, “U all talk about empowering women. I support and empower women that show skin and that don’t. It’s about choice. I show skin when I want to and still feel sexy covered head to toe & will continue to do so. Over the snarky comments.”
In response to another comment regarding her outfit, the model clarified how she picks her looks. “I like what I wear and wear it for that reason. It’s not about a stylist, it’s how I’m choosing to express myself. Your opinion isn’t going to change that. Those of you who feel this way should focus on praising those whose style u love. Singer Liam Payne says fame “nearly killed” him, adding that he feels ‘quite lucky’ to be alive.
The former One Direction singer opened up about the darker side of fame during a chat on the show Ant Middleton And Liam Payne: Straight Talking, reports www.thesun.co.uk.
Payne propelled to fame at age 16 with One Direction. “I’m quite lucky to be here still. There are times when that level of loneliness and people getting into you everyday... it’s like, ‘When will this end?’ That almost killed me a couple of times,” he said.
Asked if Payne had wanted to act on it, the singer replied: “Yeah, when I’ve been in a bad place. It’s one hundred per cent, you know. There’s no point denying it. It’s definitely been on the menu a couple of times in my life.”
Since reaching global stardom along with with One Direction members Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik, he has had a successful solo career, apart from becoming father to a son with former girlfriend Cheryl Tweedy.
Payne added that talking to family and friends helped pull him back from the brink. “There’s only one thing you control within that situation and that is you. Just do today. Get on with that bit and then there’ll be another hurdle in a few months, a few weeks or maybe even the next day,” the 26-year-old singer said.
