Belgian DJ duo is in awe of Indian fans

For Belgian electronic duo Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike, performing in India is always a no-brainer. Ahead of yet another performance in India — this time for a four city tour (Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Delhi and Mumbai) as a part of Sunburn Arena 2019 — they feel Indian crowds are quite different as compared to those from other countries.

“What we love about the Indian fans is their commitment to what they love.

They are very passionate, they know every word, every beat, they live and breathe the music, and for us as artists, that is all you could ever ask from fans,” says Dimitri, excited about his performance today in the Capital. “Indian fans are really in tune with what’s happening. We always bring something different to each show so the fans get a unique experience. We have been putting a lot of time and energy into new music for this tour, so it’s going to be a wild experience for them for sure,” adds Mike. Known for hits such as Instagram and Crowd Control among others, the brothers, who have been working together since 2007, feel the love coming to India. Apart from connecting with their fans here, they also enjoy interacting with Indian musicians. “We have spoken with young artists on previous visits, and do this often while touring. We love connecting with the fans and also artists we inspire. We receive a lot of interaction from young new talent about support of their music coming out on our labels. This is why we encourage artists to reach out and submit their music if they believe it fits,” says Dimitri.

Despite the rising popularity for their music, the duo insist they don’t get bogged down by pressure, and that’s what helps them create music that is loved by everyone. “There is no pressure really. We’ve never stayed in one lane with our sound and this has given us the freedom to explore new sounds and genres. Our fans know we aren’t just one style of music.

So for us, it’s actually freedom to do a multitude of ideas in the studio and then bring these into the live show,” explains Dimitri, who is also a part of the fifth instalment of the action franchise Rambo.
