‘I’ve been tired of people asking me what I plan to do next’

At times when nothing works in your favour, you need to create your own path. Something similar happened with actor Neil Nitin Mukesh. Of late, people have been asking him about his upcoming plans, most importantly what’s next as an actor. This kind of triggered him to create the kind of content he would be interested to be a part of.

“I’ve been tired of people asking me what do you plan to do next… But then it also made me think — am I doing what I want to do? As an actor, I’ve done a variety of roles but there are still genres and characters that I want to explore because I find them fascinating. An outand-out action thriller was one of them. The Indian audience too finds the whodunit mystery interesting,” he says talking about his latest film, an action thriller. He wrote the story, script and screenplay for the same, and it was helmed by his brother Naman Nitin Mukesh.

Neil reveals he was dying to do a film in the genre, but there were no offers coming his way. This is the reason he decided to create it himself. While he was initially comfortable, the moment the film went on the floor, he got stressed about whether Naman would pull it off. “I would get worried and stressed at the drop of a hat… Getting panicked was becoming common till Naman sat me down and told me to relax and that he can handle it well,” laughs the proud brother. Next, Neil will be seen in Firrkie. He is currently in talks for another Hindi film, and a movie down south. Under his home production, he is also working on two more projects. Getting offers on the web too, he is keen on exploring the medium, “but these offers are mostly similar” to what he has already done in films. “What’s the point in repeating myself? So I want to give it some more time rather than jump into it just because everyone else is doing it,” he adds.
