I’m an overly critical person, admits Diana

Once a film has released, not many actors take out time to see how they have performed, and they let the audience’s reactions and box office figures give the verdict. But, for Diana Penty, she has a different approach. In her own words, she is an “over critical person” who loves to analyse her work.

The actor, who made an impressive debut with Cocktail (2012), says, “First of all, it takes a lot for me to watch my own films. And when I do, I always end up analysing, dissecting and thinking of how I could have done a better job. I’ve been told that I should go easier on myself, but I guess it is a personality thing.”

Embracing her journey in showbiz so far, the modelturned-actor shares that she is now trying to increase “the pace” of her career.

“It has been an interesting journey with my share of ups and downs and I’ve learned a lot along the way. I’ve also had the opportunity to meet and work with some wonderful people and do films that I’ve genuinely believed in. I’ve been able to make choices for myself that I stand by even today,” she continues, “So, it has been a very fulfilling few years in the industry. All I want to do now is increase the pace a little.”

After her debut, Diana was missing from the big screen for a while and four year later, she returned with Happy Bhaag Jayegi (2016) and later starred in Lucknow Central (2017), Parmanu and Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi (both 2018).

Asked if she prefers quality over quantity when it comes to taking up films, Diana says, “That’s one way of looking at it. For me, it boils down to the story and how it makes me feel. I need to connect with the story and the character — that’s when I know a film is right for me. Sometimes, it takes a while to come across such stories.”

DIANA PENTY HAS A HABIT OF ANALYSING AND DISSECTING HER FILMS, AND THINKING OF HOW SHE COULD HAVE DONE A BETTER JOB THAN THAT.
