ctor Jennifer Winget is one of the prominent names in the Indian television space and has garnered fame for her performances in Beyhadh (2016), Bepannah (2018) among others. But the actor reveals that before becoming famous, many people used to mistake her for a foreigner because of her western-sounding name.

“When I started working, people didn’t really know me. They would often be very surprised to see me speak Hindi or Marathi so fluently with a name like mine. Their reaction would always amuse me,” Jennifer says.

On the personal front, after getting divorced from Karan Singh Grover in 2014, the actor is happy being single and is not willing to get into any relationship. When asked about the kind of a life partner she is looking for, Jennifer says, “I’m not even looking for a life partner!”

Now completely focussed on her work, the 34-year-old, who has a great fan following, didn’t let the stardom get to her head. “As actors, we live for our audience’s appreciation and encouragement. But as social people, we have a responsibility as we often set a precedent and an example for others to follow suit. You can’t help but be conscious about it, but of course for your own good. But I’m grounded like that,” Jennifer says.

The actor believes that handling star power is only “as difficult as one makes it to be”. At the same time, she also says, “It has its upsides and flipside but having friends and family normalises it quite a bit. I’m a human being first, then an actor. I love what I do, everything else is just the icing on the cake.”
