ON A CLASSICAL NOTE
The grand finale of five-day event Classical Voice of India 2019 concluded with a prize distribution ceremony at International Buddhist Research Institute, Gomti Nagar on Sunday. Former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav was the chief guest on the concluding day. He awarded the winners of different categories.
Organised by Sangeet Milon, the earlier rounds of the event were held between June and November across 15 states in which 3,000 participated. In Lucknow, 150 selected participants performed in vocals (dhrupad and khayal), tabla-pakawaj, kathak and all classical instruments. The event was inaugurated by culture minister Dr Neelkanth Tiwari on Wednesday.
The judges for the event were Pt Shirish Shah, Pt Sheetal Prasad Mishra, Pt Gobind Bose, Vidhushi Anita Bhargava, Vidhushi Manju Shukla, Pt Ashok Goswami, Meena Banerjee, Pt Saubhagya Vardhan Brihaspati and Pt Anirudh Bhattacharya. Sangeet Milon’s founder Milon Debnath was also one the judges for the event. The event has been dedicated to Padma Shri Ustad Niyaz Ahmed Fayyaz Ahmed Khan, informed Arundhati Choudhuri vice-president of its executive committee.
The winner in kathak were Vriti Gujral, Nikita Kumar and Sohini Bandopadhayay in different categories. In khayal vocals Shreyan Sarkar, Shatakshi, Sarvasreshta and Paratima Roy were the winners while in dhrupad the winners were Vani Gupta, Kriti Gupta and Arshay Shukla. In tabla the winners were Rajdeep Deb and Atharva Lohar, Vjith Udaya Kumar and Suraj Mishra – Manoj Solanki. In the instrumental category the winners were Saubhagya Karmakar, Manish Mishra and Sonu Yadav while the outstanding performer went to Lalit Sisodia.
