Ila Arun rocks on Jaipuria day
Seth MR Jaipuria School, Gomti Nagar held its Founder’s Day for its junior school on Friday and for senior school on Saturday with grand celebrations at Dr Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University Auditorium.
The chief guest for the junior school Founder’s Day was the versatile singer Ila Arun. The guest of honour for the evening was ambassador Deepak Vohra, special advisor to the Prime Minister of India, Lesotho and Guinea - Bissau and special advisor Ladakh Autonomous Hills Council Kargil and Leh. Also present on the occasion were school’s vice-chairperson Anjali Jaipuria and principal Promini Chopra.
The theme of the event was ‘Save Earth’ and the students put up a number of endearing performances based on it. The audience also received a special treat from Ila Arun who sang and danced on her popular song ‘Dilli shaher mein maro ghagharo jo ghoome’ and ‘Resham ka rumaal’. She also gifted children from Navsrijan school ‘ghagharas’ and danced with them.
The chief guest for the senior school event was Satish Gupta, a renowned artist, sculptor, calligrapher and poet. As the 230 piece school orchestra played ‘Raag Miyan Malhar’, Satish Gupta made a live painting to match its beats. In a beautifully choreographed sequence, Gupta’s brush strokes on the canvas matched the pace of the Bharatnatyam dancers, leaving the audience spellbound.

Parliament sessions, yoga performed to live singing, mime acts, live singing and dance performances on English, Hindi and classical songs.
